Malware detection systems that rely upon the “identification” of malware as the means for detection are extremely vulnerable to “new” malware, which has not been previously documented. Concomitantly, new malware is ideal for use in Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks. The new malware, invisible to most algorithms, can reside in target systems undetected for long periods of time until it is ready to launch. Even without the aid of Generative AI, “new” malware that can be used in these attacks, that is, malware that escapes detection, is ridiculously easy to create.
