The Dwell Time Issue in Cybersecurity
The inability to detect malware rapidly and actionably is a fatal shortcoming of most cybersecurity systems. This is evidenced by many years of statistical data that show conclusively that malware “Dwell Time”, that is, the time between malware injection and malware detection, is, on average, over six months. Why is this the case? Why can our cybersecurity systems not detect malware? What are the true ramifications of the “Dwell Time Gap”. After all, if you can’t detect, you really cannot protect.
